Bridgetown, Barbados - Atlantis Submarine

The cruise started on a Sunday in Bridgetown, in Barbados, the ship then returned there on the middle Sunday of the holiday and on the last day which was also a Sunday. In a way this was unfortunate as Bridgetown is basically shut on a Sunday, a lot of the Caribbean islands are very religious and therefore do not work on this day.

We woke up to a lovely sunny morning and it was nice to watch the ship pull into port.

In the morning we went on an organised trip on an Atlantis submarine. We got on a small boat which took us out to sea where we would meet the submarine,  as we reached the site we saw the submarine surface.

Once aboard the submarine we gradually descended down,  it was really good and we saw lots of shoals of fish and even a wrecked ship which will eventually be covered in coral.

We went over part of a coral reef and I was disappointed in the colours we saw,
with it mainly being quite brown and drab looking. The man driving the submarine
explained that the further you go down in the sea the less colour you see as you need more sunlight to see a full range of colours. This was demonstrated  to us by being asked to look at something which we knew was red and yet at that depth was brown, it was really interesting to see. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, that something which was in the submarine with us had actually appeared to change colours.

In the afternoon we went for a walk along the seafront.  There was a lovely white bird strutting its stuff, so I did too!
