Whitley Bay does Sunshine on Leith

After returning from our adventures on the sea we had a few days at home before we were off, this time for a mini break inWhitley Bay. On the way down we stopped off at Edinburgh Airport to pick up our daughter who was visiting from Bulgaria. My mum and dad were also with us and we were all going to see our other daughter who lives in North Shields. Unfortunately the plane was late which meant a lot of hanging around in the airport with us discussing the prices of airport shops. Honestly, you need to remortgage your house to get a bottle of water, it's ridiculous. Rant over.

Eventually the plane arrived and soon we could set off, we took the more scenic route which goes through Coldstream and it was a lovely sunny day to enjoy the drive. We didn't stop anywhere although I could sense David was getting twitchy passing lots of Geocaches, which he now has linked to the Satnav, so as we go along the lovely Satnav lady tells us about nearby geocaching opportunities!  The man is obsessed, maybe counselling is needed.

The reason we were all making the effort to go down at this time was because our daughter was performing in the show Sunshine on Leith, at Whitley Bay Playhouse. In our car we had vital props for the show, Hibernian football tops, so we headed straight to the theatre where they were doing the dress rehearsal. The football tops were needed for the pub scene in the show, we had already passed in a Hibs flag and big foam hand to be used.

After that we headed to the hotel to get ourselves booked in, it is one we had used before on the sea front which has rooms with beautiful sea views.

The show was fantastic and we all really enjoyed it, there were some interesting interpretations of some of the songs and it finished with a good finale which had people up on their feet, dancing and singing along.

As for our football tops, one comment was made that they  were all different to which Laura replied, " Aye, of course they are, we only buy one per season." I must admit it was like a fashion show of Hibs tops through the eras.
