Gustavia, St Barths

The next day was a day at sea so we had to amuse ourselves on the ship. The ship has an excellent library and it is amazing the amount of books we managed to get through. The library works on a scheme that we have seen in many hostels around the world, in that if you have brought a book from home and then finished it you can exchange it. We have done this several times and it has opened us up to a variety of new authors we might not have otherwise read.

That night, being Monday night was Captain's dinner night, once again we didn't go and after our meal went back to the cabin to watch a film. Once again a message came over the tannoy, this time a crew member had taken poorly and had to be emergency rescued by helicopter. That was the second time while we were aboard and both on Captain's dinner night.

The next day we went to Gustavia in St Barths. At this island we were anchored off shore so had to get a tender boat to and from the island. This made getting on and off the ship a bit more interesting, as it was still windy and the weather choppy.

Once on the island we set off exploring, which again involved David looking for a geocache. At times, I must admit this can be annoying but it also does get us to some interesting places we probably wouldn't go to.

This is David trying to figure out co- ordinates on his GPS, we actually found the right place but the clue was written in French which had us stumped. I was trying to get the brain cells turning and remembering back to my secondary school days, where I failed French miserably. Needless to say we had to give up on this one before we were arrested for acting suspiciously around a church.

Apparently some of the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean was done on this island. We headed to this beach, which was lovely, we even sat down for a short while and enjoyed the sunshine and listening to the sea. We walked to the far end of the beach away from the other tourists, so had a bit to ourselves, which was probably good as some of the ladies had decided to go topless. One even ran passed us, not a good look! Typically,  David didn't notice a thing.

The beach was mainly made up of these lovely little pink shells, beautiful to look at  but literally a pain when they got in your sandals!

After heading off the beach we climbed up to another place where there was another fort, this  one was basically just rubble now but was still a very scenic viewpoint.

Strangely enough there was another geocache here which involved David trampling through the bushes. I stayed on guard duty incase any muggles (people) were around. He didn't find this one either, he was not having a good day. Oh well, never mind!

On the way to the fort we came across this tree, it must be the most evil tree going, it is not even safe to stand underneath it in the rain.
